This breed embodies power, dominance, and unwavering loyalty. While often reserved around strangers, Akitas exhibit deep affection and loyalty towards their family. Known for their hardiness, they are resilient dogs by nature.
There exist two distinct varieties of Akitas: the pure Japanese strain, known as Akita Inu or Akita-ken, and the larger mixed strain commonly referred to as the "American Akita". Nonetheless, there remains ongoing debate surrounding whether these strains represent distinct breeds or are part of a single breed.
Throughout the annals of art history, dogs have held a special place, evolving alongside humanity and reflecting the intricate tapestry of human-canine relationships. From the vibrant canvases of the Middle Ages to the luminous works of the Renaissance, depictions of dogs have grown increasingly intricate and symbolic.
This amalgamation of man and beast amidst the beauty of the wild speaks to the timeless tradition of hound hunting—an ancient practice where skilled hunters employ canines to track and chase down game.
Dogs emerge as emblems of guidance, protection, loyalty, and love. Whether portrayed bounding through forest glades in pursuit of prey or nestled gently in the arms of a noblewoman, dogs embody traits revered by society—faithfulness, alertness, and unwavering devotion.
As society evolved and dogs became more domesticated, their portrayal in art shifted to reflect their role as cherished companions. No longer merely tools of the hunt, dogs found themselves ensconced in the lap of luxury, adorning the estates of the elite and serving as beloved members of the family.
In the hierarchical world of the aristocracy, ownership of hunting dogs became a badge of honor, a symbol of status and privilege. Reserved exclusively for the noble classes, these majestic creatures were not only prized for their hunting prowess but also esteemed for the prestige they bestowed upon their owners.
Leveraging more than two decades of experience, William has mastered the craft of pewter craftsmanship. His adept work captures the essence of the Fern. Initially apprenticed by an experienced pewter artisan specializing in intricate picture frames, William employs the highest-quality lead-free and nickel-free pewter to ensure longevity, preventing issues like flaking, rusting, or tarnishing, all without the use of harsh chemicals. This approach eliminates the risk of allergic reactions. Cleaning is a breeze, as the pewter can be gently polished with detergent or soap and a soft cloth.
William's meticulous process involves refining a mold until achieving perfection. He dedicates hours to testing and adjusting his work, utilizing a centrifugal spin caster to intricately cast each piece. After allowing them to cool, he meticulously cleans them by hand with a linishing machine to eliminate any rough edges. The final stages include polishing, inspection, soldering or assembly, and careful packaging before these unique creations are sent off to their fortunate new owners.
